Polk voters to decide school property-tax proposal on November 3
The district projects $65.6 million for employee pay and student programs if voters approve the additional mill.

Polk County voters will decide November 3 whether to authorize an additional annual one-mill property tax for public schools. The measure remains a proposal on the general-election ballot, according to Polk County Public Schools.
The district projects it would receive about $65.6 million if the measure passes. Its spending plan assigns 80 percent to additional employee compensation and 20 percent to student programs, including safety, arts, career education and early childhood education.
The ballot language calls for an independent citizens’ oversight committee and sharing proceeds with charter schools as required by law. The district’s referendum page includes the ballot wording, funding breakdown and links to further information.
